Singing to bring our joy to the world

About Us.

Our chorus of over 45 volunteer singers consists of  mainly Marin residents. Retaining its fun-loving personality through 33 years of performances and special events in Marin and beyond, it’s the evolved version of the singing group that formed at San Rafael’s Mayflower Inne in the 1970s.

The Mayflower Chorus is the performing ensemble of the Mayflower Choral Society, a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the educational and cultural benefits of musical performance to its members, the Marin community, and to you our audience.  The Chorus operates two seasons during the year—Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter— with each season culminating in a high quality show.  No formal auditions are required to sing with the group, just a desire to learn, work hard and have a great time performing a diverse mix of traditional, contemporary and original music.

Notes from the audience

“…we enjoyed the concert, especially the wonderful harmonies of the full chorus. Even for the most challenging selections, the chorus blended beautifully and created many gorgeous sound tapestries.”

“Your variety and excellent performance “

“You are all super! This was fun “

“ A wonderful show overall. Great selections performed to perfection! Thanks to all! “

“Every year gets better and better. Very professional, excellent variety, unified clothing is very appealing, poetry readers

great, too. “

“Joyful! Uplifting! Thank you “

“It doesn't seem possible but you get better every year! And I have been coming for at least 20 years! Such fun! “

“Lively and fun – first timer – great program and choice of arrangements – very enjoyable.”

We sing a wide variety of music from liturgical to show tunes. Each season brings a mixture of songs that are designed to engage the audience and provide a exciting experience.

We came to Ireland to sing. Here’s where we started..

Current and Former Directors Meet

Saturday evenings performance of the Mayflower Chorus’ semi-annual concert was marked by a very special event.  Mark Penn, the new director of the Mayflower Chorus, at his premier performance met with Daniel Canosa, the former director of the chorus.  Mr. Canosa, the director of the chorus for 14 years was on hand to listen to the new directors performance and according to Mr. Canosa it was a “fantastic” performance.  He believes the Mayflower Chorus is in good hands.
