The party’s over and if you weren’t there you missed a wonderful time. The country music was great, line dancing was a hoot and the food, the food was marvelous. There was something for everyone: the silent auction featured some great treasures, including a photographic print of the March to Selma, and the live auction had stellar items including a VIP wine tour at Jacuzzi Family Winery, hands-on cooking class and a stay at the Edgewater Resort.
Mayflower’s Friend of Marin Arts aard this year was a tribute to the Fromer family: David, Reed and Jon. The father, David, is a singer and recording artist who held folk music open-houses for years at his home and incorporates music into his soccer camp. Son Reed, singer, bandleader, songwriter, recording artist novelist, teaches and volunteers to bring music to all. David's late brother, Jon Fromer, was a folk musician, TV producer and social-justice advocate. Rita Abrams, our 2011 award winner, has been associated with the Fromers, and also took part in their award.
We’ll be back next year, with more fun, more food and more special gift items.
