MAYFLOWER CHORUS WELCOMES NEW TENOR, BARITONE AND BASS SINGERS

 

August 16, 2012 -- The Mayflower Chorus welcomes new Tenors, Baritones and Basses for the coming season. No audition is required. Interested singers please contact 415-491-9110 for more information.

 

The chorus’ repertoire focuses on American music of different periods and styles. This includes traditional folk such as spiritual and gospel, songs written for the Musical Theater, Jazz Era standards as well as contemporary pop. The 40-voice chorus of diverse ages and backgrounds supports and assists its members’ musical growth.

 

The Mayflower Chorus usually rehearses on Wednesday evening but, due to some conflicts may rehearse on Tuesday evenings Our  rehearsal season began on September 4. We benin at 7:30-10:00 p.m. at the Aldersly Retirement Community located at 326 Mission Avenue in San Rafael. Dues are $75 per season (2 seasons per year.)

 

The Mayflower Chorus presents two shows each year, with three performances of each show. The upcoming show, entitled “Winter Tales," will be performed on Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9, at the Showcase Theatre in the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael and Sunday, December 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in San Anselmo.

 

The Mayflower Chorus has been part of the Marin cultural community since 1980.  Directed by Daniel Canosa and assisted by accompanist David Manley, the chorus has performed in the Czech Republic and Portugal, and is planning a concert tour of Ireland in spring 2013.
